Color Display replacement guide

Use this article to replace the Color Display on your ebike. The process will vary slightly for each 2024 ebike model (Radster Road and Radster Trail, RadWagon 5,= and RadExpand 5 Plus, RadKick 7-Speed and RadKick Belt Drive), so follow the corresponding steps below for your model.

Tools needed:

  • Set of Allen wrenches (2.5 mm, 3 mm, 4 mm)
  • Flat-side cutters
  • A few replacement zip ties (if necessary)
  • The replacement Color Display and Remote from Rad Power Bikes

Take pictures of cable connections and routing before you start, as once you replace the Color Display you will reconnect everything in its original position.

  2. Unplug the Color Display and Remote connectors. Trace the cable from the back of the Color Display to the wiring harness, and manually unwrap the cable cover to access the connectors. 3. Connect the Color Display and Remote. Connect the Color Display connector to the wiring harness by lining up the internal notches and pins (and external arrows) and push the connector ends directly together, without twisting, to connect. Then trace the cable from the remote to the input on the back of the display and ensure the connector is fully inserted. Re-wrap the cable cover around the connectors as needed, and replace any zip ties you may have needed to cut.
  4. Power on the ebike. Install the battery and press the Power button on the remote to power on the ebike. Verify the new display is working, test the bike and Ride Rad!
