RadMini handlebar stem clasp adjustment guide
The RadMini handlebar stem clasp mechanism allows the handlebar stem quick release lever to securely lock in place when closed. If the lever closes too easily or is loose once closed, or if the lever does not close at all, the stem clasp can be adjusted.
Follow the steps below to perform an adjustment.
Tools needed:
- 2.5 mm Allen wrench
- 7 mm wrench
- Get the bike ready for maintenance. Turn off the bike, remove the battery, and press and hold MODE to discharge remaining power.
- Open the handlebar stem clasp release lever. Press the red button on the lever and open the lever fully.
- Locate the hex bolt set screw (labeled "2" in the illustration below).
Number Part Name 1 Locking lever release (red button) 2 Hex bolt set screw 3 Hex bolt 4 Roll pin 5 Roll pin set screw 6 Stem clasp release lever - Perform the adjustment.
- Use a 2.5 mm Allen wrench to loosen the hex bolt set screw partway.
- To adjust a lever that is too loose and won't stay closed: use a 7 mm wrench to raise the hex bolt approximately one full turn.
To adjust a lever that is too tight and won't close: use a 7 mm wrench to lower the hex bolt approximately one full turn.
- Tighten the hex bolt set screw securely to hold the hex bolt in place.
- Use a 2.5 mm Allen wrench to loosen the hex bolt set screw partway.
- Close the lever fully and check that it is secure. When properly adjusted, the lever will not move at all when closed, and you will not be able to open the lever without pressing the red button. Once the button is pressed, there must be enough resistance when opening the lever that it leaves a mark on your hand.
If the lever does not close fully and securely or feels loose, continue to the next step. - Repeat steps 2 through 5 as needed until the adjusted bolts allow the lever to close securely.
If the lever is not properly secured such that it can be pulled open without pressing the red release button, discontinue use of the bike immediately and contact Rad Power Bikes Product Support as soon as possible.
- Reinstall the battery and test the bike fully before riding.
Before each ride, inspect the handlebar stem for proper alignment, adjustment, and security. Always ensure the handlebar stem is securely locked before riding or damage to the bike, property, serious injury, and/or death can occur.
